The star has given the complete sum of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to preserve the Britain's small live music spots.

He was given the cheque on 16 October as his third album his work was named the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages played in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I played around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

He also joined in, collecting over £100k on his live tour to help 38 grassroots venues across Britain.

These funds helped spaces that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Other venues received monetary aid in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and fans.

"The concept that funds from concerts in major spaces helps the smaller venues, where it begins for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

He is far from the only musician to contribute his award prize money to charitable organizations.

When Pulp earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their album the album, frontman Cocker declared that the group would give their prize money to the charity War Child.

During 2002, musician the artist split her bounty among multiple charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I donated a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite shared with outlets.

Previously, the band gave their funds to the community center that nurtured their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients the group donated their award to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.

"The victory was ample," remarked singer the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the cake. So our victory impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and the second in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by the arts council and music fans who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
